The Stabbing Gentlemen’s Report Issue 1 Future Goals of the Fencing Club The 2013-2014 academic year is coming to a close soon, which means it is time to set some new goals for the club and reevaluate the old. As you may or may not know, the Fencing Club had been on a decline. At one point in the club’s history we had 20 members consecutively showing up to the meetings, and we were able to place these individuals into companies. That time period was great! We want to get back to that period again. We also want to improve our relationship with the university. We have been a part of Murray State since 1977, and we want our voices to be heard by the school. If we wish to continue and to grow bigger than what we were before we will need to school to support our cause. Here is a list of goals we are going to achieve: • Gain and retain 20 members or more within the next academic school year. • Continue to attend tournaments throughout the academic school year. • Continue to establish and grow tournament contacts. • Host a USFA certified tournament near the middle or end of the academic school year. • Attain financial and moral support from the university. • Obtain all new electric equipment such as scoring box and cord reels. • Grow a bigger online social media audience base by making more Youtube Videos and taking more pictures to upload to Facebook. Well, that’s it for this edition of the MSU Fencing Club Newsletter! The newsletters will be coming out once a semester so keep your eyes open kiddos! Watch out world, the Stabbing Gentlemen balustrading toward you! 9
