Tournaments
One of our goals is to increase our tournament
contacts and increase the awareness of the Fencing
Club on campus. To do this, we will be attending
more tournaments more frequently. There are two
tournaments in the near future that the Fencing
Club is interested in attending.

The next tournament that is coming up is the Derby Open at Western Kentucky
University. It will take place on Saturday, April 26th, and it is the Summer
National Qualifiers for the Kentucky Division. Currently, this tournament is pay
at your own expense, which means for those who wish to attend they will have
to pay everything themselves. The cost of preregistering is $35, and for every
additional event it is an extra $10. Those who are planning on attending this
tournament is Club President DJ Wilson, and Club Vice President David Deitz.
The other members of the club are interested in attending this tournament, and
hopefully more members will come.

The tournament after the Derby Open is the Oldham County Open in
LaGrange, KY. The Louisville Fencing Center will be hosting the event on
May 17th at the LaGrange Community Center. The club is anticipating on
helping its members financially to attend this event. The cost of
preregistering is $25, and for every additional event it is an extra $10.
There is interest in attending this tournament among the club members;
however, since the tournament is further away, time wise, it has not been
thoroughly discussed. This tournament will taking place after school has
been let out for the summer.
