CONSERVATION SCIENCE :

A BIG HIT !

THE SPORTSMEN ’ S ALLIANCE-CREATED CURRICULUM TAKES EDUCATING OUR YOUTH TO A NEW LEVEL .

Recruit , Retain , Reactivate . The mantra of every conservation organization and wildlife agency in the country seeks to bring new blood into the hunting fold to support the future of wildlife conservation . The hard part about current efforts is that every outreach is largely dependent on people looking for that information and wanting to understand our world , and many youth efforts only capture

those youngsters who are already predisposed to hunting or already in the “ recruitment funnel .”
The Sportsmen ’ s Alliance created Conservation Science to reach outside of our world and into public schools , where we could engage high-school students consistently , every day for a semester or year . Our curriculum is completely flexible and has been used as a standalone class ; a supplement for environmental and agricultural science ; an AP lab and
a general elective in semester- and yearlong courses taught at public , private , charter and home schools . It includes all the lesson plans , labs and resources a teacher needs to teach the science behind the North American Model , and is based on the funding mechanisms of the model — hunting , fishing , trapping , boating and recreational shooting . As you can see here and read on page 12 , Conservation Science has been a big hit everywhere it ’ s been incorporated .
