A KEYSTONE STATE TRAPPER FIGHTS TO PROTECT HIS PASSION WHILE PASSING ON THE HERITAGE .

Sportsmen ’ s Alliance members have great stories to tell that speak to the success of conservation and their efforts to continue the traditions of hunting , trapping and fishing . We ’ re proud to share such stories in these pages , as they demonstrate the commitment of citizen Huntervationists . The Sportsmen ’ s Alliance caught up with Chase Williams to talk about his unique path to becoming a dedicated all-around sportsman . The following is his story .

When it comes to trapping and its heritage , Chase Williams of Pennsylvania is a prime example of the continuance of culture . As sportsmen , many of us grow up in the outdoors from a very young age , but not all of us fall into a niche such as trapping . Williams ’ young curiosity transitioned him from outdoorsman to trapper .
“ I remember going out to my dad ’ s shed and seeing a bucket of traps . I was probably 9 or 10 years old at the time . I asked them what they were , and he hadn ’ t trapped since probably the mid-80s ,”
Williams said . “ First year we got them out , we caught a couple muskrats , and it just snowballed . I ’ ve been trapping ever since . I do some fishing , I deer hunt , but trapping is what I live for .”
Like many of our members , Williams first heard about Sportsmen ’ s Alliance through other organizations . His home state ’ s trappers ’ association , the Pennsylvania Trappers Association , shares with its members the work of the Sportsmen ’ s Alliance and encourages them to support us for the benefit of sportsmen around the nation .
