PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE
It ’ s no secret that our outdoor passions — our hunting and trapping heritages , especially — are under constant attack from those who oppose them based on nothing but their own emotions , opinions and paradigms . While the current model of wildlife management allows everyone to pursue their passions , whether that ’ s hunting and fishing or hiking and wildlife watching , those opposed to our way of life would eschew that freedom for a country that only allows their singular vision of interacting with nature .
They attack at every level of government and leverage mainstream media to deliver an emotional and biased message to regulate or outright ban management methods — meaning how , where and when you hunt , fish and trap . The Sportsmen ’ s Alliance was created to protect those methods , but more precisely , we exist to protect you and your interests , and collectively our heritage .
The individuals on our team are dedicated to fighting for you , and pushing back against the anti-hunter , anti-science , anti-everything crowd to ensure we have a legacy left to pass down to following generations . We believe in action over words . Results over promises . We believe in the law , which is why we launched our Office of Litigation Counsel to protect you in the courts whether we ’ re defending your interests or going on offense to advance them .
We believe in our republican form of government and the public that powers it . We believe that you can make a difference in our future , which is why we ask for your help in passing or stopping legislation important to sportsmen , and why we ’ ve made it easy for you to make your voice heard with just one click of a mouse . But that ’ s not enough .
The Sportsmen ’ s Alliance is committed to giving you the information and power to make an educated vote when it comes to your state congressmen and -women. As you ’ ll read in this issue , we ’ ll soon have an online database of how your elected officials voted on issues important to you , starting with states we ’ ve had to fight in most recently and often . It ’ s one thing when politicians say they ’ re “ pro-sportsman ,” but talk is cheap . It ’ s how they vote that actually matters . You ’ ll soon have that information and the power to hold them accountable . With your help , we will continue to protect your passions and our heritage in the courts , at the ballot box and in all 50 state legislatures . We will continue to protect you , as we have for nearly 50 years .
