In the past year , the Sportsmen ’ s Alliance has engaged in several legal actions to protect and promote America ’ s hunters , trappers and anglers . While this is nothing new , longtime members and supporters will note a steady expansion of activity in the third branch of government , the judiciary , as we fight for our outdoor traditions . The simple truth is , in many states , anti-hunting elected majorities make it impossible to advance or even protect what remains of our interests . In others , fish and wildlife commissions are becoming downright hostile to sportsmen

and the North American model . At the federal level , congress has steadily turned away from hunters and anglers , making it more difficult to hunt , fish and trap on public lands .
Thankfully , our founders understood that an independent judiciary was the answer . The Sportsmen ’ s Alliance is embracing this reality and seeking redress in the courts on issues from coast to coast and at all levels of government . Our mission , after all , is to protect hunting , fishing and trapping in perpetuity , and utilizing all tools to do so is the name of the game .

Some in the outdoor community argue that sportsmen should compromise with those arrayed against us and find “ common ground ” on issues because litigation undermines our long-term goals and aspirations . This argument is based on the faulty premise that the way things are is the way they should be and we can expect no more . The Sportsmen ’ s Alliance disagrees completely .
Hunter numbers continue to decline , access to public lands is restricted more and more each year , regulations strangle our activities , and animal-extremist organizations are building a war chest that
