What is your proudest/greatest
accomplishment to date in your
business?
I’ve now been published on Autism Speaks, Huffington Post Parents, and a variety of other parenting sites. It’s meant that all of those late nights
spent writing have paid off. I think even more than
that is the feeling of community when I receive
emails and IMs from moms who have thanked me
for making them feel less alone by sharing my story
and my thoughts about what it feels like to be a
special needs mom.
Are you using social media to
promote your business? How?
Why did you start your blog?
I needed a community. Some of my mom friends
disappeared when we realized we’d be going down
a different path than expected. I felt alone, and
wanted other moms who were in my position to
know that I am here. I also wanted to know that
they are there, that we’re all in this together.
Yes. I’m on Twitter, Google+, and have a Facebook
page. I find groups of similar people and we try to
help one another promote ourselves.
Juggling a business can be
difficult for anyone, how do you
balance being both a caregiver
and a business woman?
That I’ll live long enough to see my son living independently and succeeding on his own. That I’ll
know he’s okay. §
If you had one wish, what would
that be?
I stay up too late, pretty much every day. My
husband and I have a deal though - I am able to
sleep in on the weekends while he takes our son
outside to do something. It makes a difference,
even when it’s only 20 minutes.
What was the biggest struggle you
encountered when starting your
business?
Finding the time to do so.
