WNMU is still a new club getting underway , We look forward to the new school year and new year of CKI . We welcome our new vice-president , Carla Viejo Sanchez , to WNMU CKI . We may be small , but we work on great things . This past year , the four of us officers of WNMU CKI ( Serina Pack-President ; Brandon Cook-Vice President ; Lacey Oldham-Secretary ; and Robert Pack-Treasurer ) have really enjoyed it . Fall Rally and DCON will certainly be highlights of our year , but also the service work we did . We are especially blessed by the support of Kiwanis Club of Silver City , our faculty sponsor-Dr . Cline , and our Kiwanis Advisor-Lori Bonomo .
The last two weeks of April , we are continuing our special service work that is being made possible by two grants earned : CKI Tomorrow Fund Grant and the Disney Friends of Change grants . Our work in focused on promoting reading to elementary students . We are expanding " For the Love of Art and Read for Joy " program to 4th grade students in the Silver Consolidated schools . We are hoping to offer this program to over 200 students and have many of their art pieces showcased in art shows in the community , creating awareness about the importance of reading . The art is being created from books being read in workshops with youth mentors , it is an exciting time that also involves Global Youth Service day the last weekend of April . The project is a very large project , but much work has already been completed and has been most rewarding .
