“ Going back into education was something I had always wanted to do but I never thought I would have the opportunity . I enrolled on the BA Degree Preparation Programme in Humanities to see whether firstly , I would be able to cope and secondly whether I would enjoy it . As a single parent working parttime I had reservations about being able to juggle all of my commitments but once I started the course those doubts completely disappeared . The classes were very different from learning the first time around and the support offered by staff at the Department of Adult Continuing Education ( DACE ) left me with no excuses and with a new enthusiasm for learning . Other students on the course were in similar situations and not only did I thoroughly enjoy lectures , I enjoyed meeting new people too . After successfully completing the BA Degree Preparation Programme in Humanities , I enrolled on the BA ( Honours ) Degree in Humanities and the continued support from DACE has been wonderful . I haven ’ t looked back and know that this opportunity is too good to miss . My hope now is to complete my degree and change career direction . Now I realise that the only thing holding me back was my own doubt ; I am thoroughly enjoying learning again .”
