Summer 2020 MUSIC FILM Holy Mountain La Montaña Sagrada Wednesday 15 april BATTLEBORN A Tribute to The Killers Saturday 11 april Battleborn are made up of Jamie Brierton, Nicolo Sentinelli, Jamie Crampton, Aaron McHugh and Danny O'Leary; all of whom are big fans of The Killers and have come together to replicate the spectacular performances that the Vegas rockers deliver every night of their touring schedule. The band have scrutinised every element of The Killers live show to ensure that the Battleborn audience will be astounded with the concert, as much as they would be seeing the actual band. Playing tracks from the array of outstanding albums from 'Hot Fuss' through to 'Wonderful Wonderful', Battleborn caters for all fans of The Killers, young and old! TiME: 9pM priCE: €15/€10 A scandal when first released, Jodorowsky’s movie is a dazzling, rambling, often incoherent satire on consumerism, militarism and the exploitation of third world cultures by the West. Unfurling like a hallucinogenic daydream; a free-association narrative follows a Christ-like character, the Thief, first seen lying in a dusty street. He is rescued (maybe resurrected) by a gang of boys, then wanders through the city observing the madness of modern life, including a massacre of protesters by riot soldiers (an event photographed by rich tourists) and a tribute to the Spanish conquest of Mexico, re-enacted by costumed lizards on a scale model of Aztec pyramids. The second half finds the Thief joining a group of emblematic religious figures to attack the mountaintop fortress of society’s rulers, the Immortals. ‘The surreal imagery is beautiful, bewildering, and shocking, often in the same scene’ – Irish Film Institute Dir.
