SPRING 2020
INTRODUCTION
Spring drifts in so slowly and sometimes it feels as if the winter
is reluctant to release its grip on us. That being said, we are well
past solstice day and things should be getting brighter and
warmer, day by day.
Here on the second floor at The Source, we’ve been busily
crafting our programme for the period. We’ve got lots of good
music with Sharon Shannon, Kieran Goss/Annie Kinsella (we
love their ‘Oh The Starlings’ album) and we welcome up and
comers Mill Road for their first headline gig at the venue.
We are screening what we think are two important
documentaries. ‘Land Without God’ is Mannix Flynn’s
documentary about his and his siblings experience in the
industrial school system across Ireland in the 60’s and ‘70’s.
Additionally ‘For Sama’ is one mother’s film about the siege of
Aleppo in Syria and how she documented it for her daughter.
In a happier vein we also screen ‘Marianne and Leonard – about
Leonard Cohen’s lifelong relationship with Marianne Ihlen,
whom he later immortalized in his song ‘So Long Marianne.’
In theatre we have Jon Kenny in the play ‘Crowman’ and local
actors new work - Roseanna Purcell in the hilarious ‘A Holy
Show’ and Aine Ryan’s new play ‘Paddy Goes to Petra’. Thurles
Drama Group have an intriguing play called ‘Gut’ set for their
spring production, too.
In comedy, the lovely David O’Doherty will be back to us,
keyboard in tow; Alison Spittle’s new show is ‘Mother of God’
and we expect that response from audiences, in a good way.
We also have YouTube stars Farmer Michael and Kathleen with
their manic take on just about everything.
As usual, if you have any interesting ideas in relation to shows
or projects that you are doing and we should be presenting we
are happy to hear about them. Email me here at:

Have a great 2020,
