Indian Hills Community College , with campuses in Ottumwa , Iowa and Centerville , Iowa , is a public , two-year junior college serving 19 high schools in a 10-county region . More than 80 % of the students come from within the region . The campuses offer arts and sciences courses , advanced technology and health sciences programs . The Centerville campus also offers arts and sciences and advanced technology programs .
Perhaps the most consequential aspect of the college took place in 2021 , when voters in the college ’ s region approved a $ 28 million bond referendum that will create upgrades to all campuses , including a new Centerville Academic Building , that will be rolled out over the next few years . Part of the referendum was creating virtual classrooms at each of the high schools where concurrent learning can take place starting with the 2022-23 school year .
Founded in 1966 , Indian Hills Community College also is renowned for its athletic programs , competing in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference and supporting 16 NJCAA Division I athletic teams .
