Ballingall Park , located at River Drive and Main Street in front of the Amtrak train depot , has a historic steam engine and water fountain . The park is on the National Register of Historic Places as part of a historic railroad district that includes the depot .
Bark Park is a special fenced-in area of Ottumwa Park designed just for dogs . The park allows an off-lease area for dogs to run and play . It is located just off Highway 34 in Ottumwa .
Bell Park is a family-friendly neighborhood park on Schwartz Drive containing playground equipment and tennis and basketball courts .
Caldwell Park is located at West Main and Arrison streets in Ottumwa . The park is maintained as an upland oak savannah and commands a peaceful view of the Des Moines River valley .
Central Park is located between City Hall and the Ottumwa Public Library at the intersection of North Court and Fourth streets . It has an amphitheater stage , large oak trees , shade benches and picnic tables . A war memorial is located on the north side of the park on Fourth Street .
Foster Park is named after George Foster , grandson of John Morrell , founder of Morrell Meat Packing . The park is located at East Main Street and Foster Avenue . The park has playground equipment , a shelter with a barbecue grill , picnic tables , restrooms and drinking fountains .
Franklin Park , next to the old Franklin School at Walnut and Second streets , offers picnic tables , disc golf and playground equipment .
Hamilton Park is an undeveloped area just off North Court Street between Highland and Woodland avenues . It has an oak and hickory woodland landscape and a variety of wildlife .
Harmon Park is located at Main and Benton streets . It is an undeveloped green space along Ottumwa ’ s Main Street corridor .
Hillcrest Park is also known as Reservoir Park because of the large water tank buried beneath it . It is a two-acre neighborhood park at the crest of Court Hill on North Court Street . Hillcrest is equipped with a shelter , facilities for baseball and softball , basketball and tennis courts and playground equipment .
Jefferson Park is a two-acre park located at Jefferson and Gara streets . It is home to majestic cottonwood trees and has playground equipment , picnic tables and a basketball court . Memorial Park is located at Jefferson and Elm streets under the water tower . The park is home to Merrill Cabin and a shelter which may be reserved . Playground equipment , a disc golf course , a four-mile mountain bike trail , picnic tables , barbecue grill are available . The park ’ s amenities include restroom facilities and drinking fountains . The 65-acre park has trails , bridges and ponds .
Ottumwa Park is divided into four quadrants at the intersection of Highway 34 and 63 . Playground equipment , drinking fountains , shelters with barbecue grills are available amenities . Activities available at the park include sand volleyball , fishing , camping , walking and biking on trails , softball , basketball , tennis , football and soccer . The park covers a total of 340 acres including ponds . A new basketball court opened in summer 2020 .
Pickwick Park is a neighborhood park located near Douma School at Keota and Schuyler streets . It has a baseball / softball field , a shelter house , picnic tables and playground equipment on its five acres .
Skate Park is an area for skateboarders , inline skaters and trick bike riders . Located on Market Street on the banks of the Des Moines River , the free park has mini-ramps , a spine ramp and a street course with boxes , rails , banks and quarterpipes .
Sycamore Park is an open area of Ottumwa Park adjacent to The Beach Ottumwa . Named for its sycamore trees , the park features the Kids First Playground and a picnic shelter . The park is adjacent to the levee trail system along the Des Moines River .
Troeger Park lies across from Bridge View Center on Church Street . It offers tennis courts and a horseshoe pitch . The park is a memorial to Paul Troeger , a former Ottumwa park commissioner .
Union Park is one of the homes of Ottumwa Little League fields . It also has a shelter with a barbecue grill , restrooms , picnic tables , playground equipment , drinking fountains and basketball and tennis courts .
Wildwood Park is located at Shaul and Finley avenues in south Ottumwa . The park has shelters with barbecue grills , picnic tables , restrooms , drinking fountains , playground equipment , a disc golf course , trails , baseball and softball fields and tennis and basketball courts . The park also contains natural areas that run along Kettle Creek . It is noted for its long sledding hill .
