presents The Sound of Music starring local and national cabaret star , Amy Friedl Stoner as Maria .
" Because we were in the temporary TCR Lindale location with extremely limited back of house space , doing quick changes backstage often involved the help of multiple nuns ," Amy shared . " Playing Maria in The Sound of Music was a transformative experience for me as a performer . That was really the first lead role I had in a show , and it remains one of my favorite theatre experiences to date ."
Mounting the show in a former movie theater presented TCR ’ s team with tricky production challenges , but they rose to the occasion to create what was a very unique and memorable production that highlighted the resilience of our city following the flood .
And here we are , presenting The Sound of Music in the most current physical incarnation of TCR . If you think about it , the theatre has produced the show four times in the past 50 years , but never on the same TCR stage . Today , in a time of reconnection following two years of pandemic isolation and cultural and economic stress , The Sound of Music remains timely and timeless as a story of hope , perseverance , and love . •
