The Soultown! Volume III: Issue 9 SEPTEMBER 2019 | Page 30
In the past 30 days, The Soultown has asked The Million Dollar ? to random readers across the country via
social media. The target ages are 18 and up. The careers vary between business owners, engineers, web
developers, retail workers, teachers, and homemakers. Our research produced the following responses.
What happens if a community loses its voice?
TNR - Assuming that said community
had a voice to begin with, the reaction to the loss of it
is certainly traumatic. Disengagement leads to disenfranchisement
(and vice-versa)... Ultimately, the voiceless community is at the
mercy and whim of those who aren’t nearly as invested in its
success, or worse: those who are invested
in its failure. #Tragic
LTL - The wrong people
will rise to destroy the legacies of
the good ones.
DJ - #thedonaldtrumpeffect if the
people won’t speak the wrong
people will step up and speak.
JH - It becomes a Puppet show.
Controlled, pulled along and
silenced until picked up
VW - A community doesn’t lose
its voice. I believe they become
disinterested and disconnected and
give their voice away. It’s a process that
does not happen over night.
DB - Sadly, any way you cut it, it’s
a tragedy that will one day be felt.
