A LETTER FROM THE CEO

Dear Sonder Supporters,
As I sit down to write this letter in our 10th anniversary year, it feels as though we are turning the page on Part One of The Sonder Project’ s story.
Since our founding in 2015, we have lived the early stages of building something meaningful from the ground up. Like any story worth telling, these first chapters have been filled with vision, passion, experimentation, and countless lessons learned. We planted roots— figuratively and literally— building schools, expanding access to clean water, creating educational opportunities, and establishing sustainable agriculture initiatives. Even when we didn’ t fully realize it, we were laying the foundation for long-term impact.
Now, as we reflect on 2024, we recognize this moment as both an ending and a beginning: the close of our formative years, and the start of a new phase centered on sustainability, growth, and deeper impact.
Over the past decade, we have learned that lasting change requires more than just starting programs— it demands nurturing them, adapting them, and knowing when and where to go deeper. Our theory of change is no longer a collection of isolated actions, but a holistic framework that invests in the future of our partner communities.
Today, we are seeing stronger communities emerge— where clean water is available, schools are safe and welcoming, farms are thriving, and families are building more resilient and self-reliant futures. Most inspiring of all, young leaders are rising— students who will not wait for development to happen to them, but who are empowered to drive it forward.
As we step into 2025, we do so with clearer vision, stronger structure, and renewed purpose. We’ re celebrating all that’ s been accomplished, but we’ re also strategizing on what comes next. We’ re asking: Where is the greatest need? Where can we deepen our impact? From expanding our sustainable farm, to continued access to clean water and well maintenance, to strengthening schools and increasing postsecondary school enrollment, the path ahead is focused, strategic, and driven by the same heart that got us here.
