IMMERSE MALAWI EXPERIENCE OUR IMPACT FIRSTHAND
In May 2024, we launched our first-ever Immerse experience— a transformative, weeklong journey for supporters to volunteer and engage with The Sonder Project’ s mission on the ground in Malawi. Rooted in five guiding tenets— Learn, Connect, Serve, Share, and Grow— the experience gave participants a powerful opportunity to witness our impact firsthand while forming deep bonds with partner communities.
Each village welcomed the team with joyful and heartfelt celebrations. In one community, volunteers supported an Education is Power leadership workshop; in another, they surveyed women impacted by Sonder wells and helped lay the foundation for a new school block.
While in the field, participants stayed with host families— taking part in daily routines like collecting water and hand-washing clothes, and spending evenings playing games and enjoying the rhythms of village life. Meals were prepared by a Sonder cook, offering nourishing, locally inspired dishes.
From answering students’ curious questions to dancing under the stars and listening to stories of personal transformation, our inaugural Immerse participants fully embraced the experience— returning home with lasting memories and a renewed commitment to the work.
