EVELYNE KABRE’ S STORY

In the village of Komsnedego, Burkina Faso, Evelyne Kabre, 37, is a mother to five boys, a market vendor, and a hardworking farmer. Life was a constant struggle before she joined The Sonder Project’ s community farm, and she’ s amazed by how much has changed in just a year.
Before the farm, irregular rainfall left Evelyne barely enough crops to feed her family. Her husband left the village to

seek employment in the Ivory Coast, sending inconsistent money, leaving Evelyne to support the family. With no formal education, Evelyn did what she could— brewing local beer to sell and cooking on market days— but it was never enough.“ Before the farm, life was complicated,” she recalls.“ I often sat idle, with little to do.”
Evelyn uses the produce she grows to make food she sells in the market.
