2024 Annual Report
Because of the new well, Moffat and Emilysia were able to start a small garden, which they both have more time to tend and have increased their income by 80 %.
Moffat, who works as a tobacco farmer, would have to manage his crops alone because his wife was busy fetching water— limiting the family’ s economic potential. The Jere’ s daily water routine was draining and stifling.
The impact of the well has been transformative!
Both Yesinta and Justin can attend school regularly( in one of two school blocks built by The Sonder Project), bathe daily, and wear freshly washed clothes. The Jere Family has experienced an income increase of 80 %, with savings from medical bills and the ability for both Mofatt and Emilysia to work equally on the farm. They also now tend to a small thriving garden near their home, growing leafy vegetables to supplement their nutrition and income using irrigation from the Sonder well.
Reflecting on the impact, Moffat says,“ Water is life. With clean water, we can do anything. We are so grateful to those who made this well possible. You are doing God’ s work.” Emesiya adds with conviction,“ Clean water gives us the power to be happy and joyful always.”
