JOSOPHINE IMPACT STORY

Meet ten-year-old Josophine Tchiza , a fourth

grader at Matundu Primary School in the community of Galileya , where we completed construction of our tenth school this year . Before the completion of the new school block , Josophine was learning in a grass-thatched structure .
“ Winds and rain would distract me as the whole structure would shake and leak ,” she says . “ Usually , I would just stay home if the conditions weren ’ t good .” Now , with the construction of a Sonder Project building in her community , all the grass-thatched structures have been removed , and Josophine is proud of the beautiful new building . “ Other girls and boys will be attracted to come to school because of this ,” she says .
Josophine wants to be a nurse one day . She also wants to be a role model for the other girls in her community .
“ I put my whole effort in all subjects so that my dream should come true ,” she tells us . With the improved school environment , Josophine ’ s belief in the power of education , and her motivation to excel has only grown . And it ’ s not only her . There are 399 other students enrolled at Matundu who will all benefit from the new construction – not to mention all of the students who will attend school here in the years ahead .
