The Sonder Project | 2018 Annual Report 2018 | Page 10

× × A Letter from our CEO

Dear Sonder Project Community,
What a year it has been for The Sonder Project. 2018 will always be remembered for the impact of Hurricane Michael, but not just for the devastation it caused. We will also remember Hurricane Michael for the incredible rallying of support for the recovery that we continue to experience from you, our community. With your support, we have contributed 5,073 hours of service, assisted in strengthening 172 homes( through tarping, tree removal, electrical support) and are currently in the process of rebuilding 3 family’ s homes. We are proud of the role we have played in the recovery effort, although this is not all we are proud of this year. It is my pleasure to share with you some additional highlights:
+ Established our First 2 Community Farms in Burkina Faso- Our irrigated community farms have three main goals: food for its members, income for its members( through sold produce), and food for the local school. Members of our farm will no longer suffer in years of drought and will benefit from multiple harvests per year. Each farm is 11.2 acres and both farms together will help provide food security for over 1,608 people.
+ Installed 2 Water Pumps in Burkina Faso – Our 2 new water pumps are helping to bring clean water to over 8,000 people. To date, we have now completed 5 water pumps in Burkina Faso bringing clean water to over 19,000 people.
+ Established our First Community Garden in the US – We are proud to be partnered with Food for Thought to build a community garden in Destin that will be used to benefit Food for Thought’ s programs to feed socioeconomically-disadvantaged youth.
As the end of the year approaches, and you review the impact we have had this year, we hope you will consider donating so we may continue our efforts to strengthen communities. Our work would not be possible without people like you. Thank you for being part of our community.
With great appreciation,
Chad Zibelman Chief Executive Officer
