THE SONDER PROJECT YEAR 2017
KOUGLAPAKA , BURKINA FASO
We kicked 2017 off in true Sonder Project fashion in Kouglapaka , Burkina Faso . This remote village is located 67KM from Ouagadougou . The nearest school to the community was over 9KM away , making a very long walk for children wishing to attend class . On this trip , we built a primary school right in their community . They were also walking nearly 3 miles to retrieve filthy drinking water that wasn ' t exactly safe for consumption . Next to the school , we drilled a well for safe , clean water . Our friends from Good Vision Glasses joined us in the village to test the vision of all the school children . With their help we were able to fit 27 children with eyeglasses , ensuring they can see the board when they attend classes at their new school .
