The Transition from Traditional IT systems to Cloud-Based IT Services T he traditional IT system has been in the industry ever since computers were formulated. Storage has always been the most crucial factor of any organisation. But ever since cloud came into the industry it has been dominating in every sector. Now many regions have started implementing cloud-based IT services and have replaced them with the traditional IT systems. CQC is a good example of this transition. 36 CQC (Care Quality Commission) is the health and social care regulator, a non-department public body of the United Kingdom. In 2009 it was established mainly to regulate and inspect health and social care services in England. It had recently withdrawn its joint plan to move health bodies’ central IT system to cloud-based technologies. The Health Secretary Matt Hancock was interested in doing something about the IT systems and later planned on replacing it. This move was initiated in August, last year at the Department of Health and Social Care by NHS England, NHS Improvement, the Health Research Authority and the CQC. This new IT project is will be known as the march 2019 “Future Services Programme (FSP)”. The previous or the current contract is known as French-headquartered Atos and is said to end in April 2020. Google’s G-suite technology and other cloud-based services will be supported by NHS England’s FSP. Hancock confirms it in a review. Also, Google’s G-suite technology and other cloud-based services will be considered as subject to the pilot phase. The NHS organizations have always been using Microsoft-based systems but now it is moving far away from these systems to a place where the cloud is the future. What is the reason for the shift? Well, it is obvious that the old system needed an upgrade. Since data is being processed on a regular basis, more and more storage devices are needed. Also, the fact that new data is added every now and then causes organizations to invest in something more efficient. A good example would be the HeraMED LTD and the Brazilian Healthcare Group’s Pregnancy monitoring. HeraMED LTD had received 60,000 USD order for a cloud-based pregnancy monitoring service from Brazilian healthcare group. Both companies were collaborated to connect HeraBEAT heart rate monitors to Hapvida’s electronic medical record systems. It is a very innovative approach where physicians and nurses are allowed to monitor pregnant women in real time. Here as you can see every pregnant woman’s data will be unique, in order to keep a track on all of them these devices became necessary. Many reports in the past have shown the delay in treatment that has caused problems while women were pregnant. But cloud-based IT service has given a solution for this. This is how the cloud is dominating in every vertical. IT companies were the first to implement cloud- based IT services. Now, healthcare, as shown above, has also seen the transition. Soon we might see the cloud in various fields as well. SR
