THE SHIRT HORN Mar. 2016 | Page 47

Methodology  1. A shirt was draped over each of the different shapes of claws (curved, obtuse,  perpendicular) and a group member attempted to put his arms through the shirt holes as  they were held up by the pair of claws.  2. If the group member was able to put his arms through the hole, he proceeded to try and  put his head through the claws.    Results  The obtuse angled claws failed when we tried to put our arms through. The acute claws  succeeded when we put our arms through but weren’t able to support us putting our heads  through. The perpendicular claws succeeded when we attempted to put our arms and our hands  through.    Conclusions  From the observations above, it is clear that the perpendicular claw shape was the only one stable  enough to support the process of putting on the shirt.    Limitations  At this stage in the project, all of the claws were made out of foamcore. As a result, it was not  possible to get an accurate measure of the strength of each of the claw shapes since they were all  made out of a relatively weak material.                                      42
