Todays demanding market requires innovative solutions to everyday manufacturing
processes to stay competitive. Seconn automation has developed a tank assembly press designed
to address concentricity of rolled shells and the mating and welding of them to manufactured tank heads.
Although most tank manufacturers can and do control tolerances in their manufacturing
processes, historically the process can only be as good as all the variables encountered
when manufacturing. Mill sizes, roll condition/process, head manufacturers and seam
welding can all contribute to varying tolerances causing fit up issues.
Fabricators have developed many tricks of the trade to accomplish head and tank
alignment. From hammers to come alongs, pry bars and welded levers the process to tack
weld a head to a tank can be laborsome, costly, difficult and at times, unsafe.
