The Seventh Kingdom: Is Technology Addiction Real Jan. 2015 | Page 5
Whilst digital technology addiction is a
problem which affects over half of all
smartphone users worldwide, it is not
viewed as a major problem by many, as a
result is not considered a serious addiction.
The main aim of this report is to establish
a ne ed for a product to fight the addiction
of digital technology. Moreover the
,
intention of the product is to educate
individuals of the addiction itself.
People are addicted to d igital’ technology i.e.
‘
smartphones and computers in particular. A lot
of time is wasted using and checking the devices
when time could be used more productively.
Society today has encouraged digital technology
so far that it is assumed a ne ed rather than a
want. Addiction to such devices has many effects;
socially, economically and environmentally.
The research from this report will be used to
specifically explain how digital technology
addiction can affect humans. Furthermore, the
primary and secondary effects of the addiction
will be identified to help logically ideate a
design in relation to digital technology addiction.
