The Seventh Kingdom: Is Technology Addiction Real Jan. 2015 | 页面 25
KEVIN KELLY
Kevin Kelly, a “d igital visionary” spoke of technology, jokingly stating “technology is anything
that was invented after you were born!” and “technology is something that does not work yet!”
Kelly refers to technology as a life hack, accelerating evolution. Similarly to biological evolution,
technological evolution also shares the same trends of; ubiquity, diversity, specialisation,
complexity and socialisation.
Kelly also mentions how technology is the seventh kingdom of life. However it appears as
,
though it is more of an appendage to the animal kingdom rather than a separate kingdom
altogether. The difference between biology and technology is extinction only applies to
biology. People like vintage products and therefore products can be delayed, but never killed.
Technology gives choices, possibilities and freedoms and transforms life into an “infinite game”,
making it into an essential part of life to find out who we really are. (Kelly, 2005)
