Prior Park School Gibraltar placed a small article on the the U12's in their newsletter! They said......

Prior Park College were delighted to host the U12's team from Gibraltar RFC during the Easter holidays.

The boys schedule included a training session with our Director of Rugby, and former England player, Paul Hull.

The team were a credit to their club.

The second half came with Gibraltar ringing the changes to try and keep fitness levels up and injuries starting to take their toll. Avonvale pushed forward and the tries started to flow for them. They pulled the score around scoring 4 unanswered tries leaving the Gibraltar boys battered and bruised but with heads still high and no one giving up.

The fourth quarter began with the coaches usual rallying cries. Something must have clicked and with everyone putting in a massive effort Gibraltar pulled one back. At 5-4 and time running out, Gibraltar playing its usual brand of champagne rugby got the break through its hard work deserved and scored, levelling the game at 5-5. With just minutes left both teams fought hard for the win but at the final whistle both sets of fans cheered the boys off the pitch having watched what all there felt was one of the most exciting and

hard fought games they had ever seen.

The third half was then enjoyed by all with the kids mixing in true rugby style while the grown ups did the same in true rugby style.

As we finally said our fair wells with promises to host Avonvale in Gibraltar as soon as we can the boys from Avonvale even cheered us out of the car park with their own special guard of honour. A fitting end to a great tour.

That night saw an extremely tired group of players hit the sack with a 4am start and a far quieter plane on the way back than on the way there.

Overall one hell of an experience for players, coaches and parents alike. The boys made us proud and learned not just about the game of rugby but even more what rugby means and best of all they came together as a team and friends. Here's looking to next year.
