Throughout the process of pledging, I was actively infused with a sense of

commitment. This sense emanated from the interactions of the Brothers akin

to that of a family. The Members of Phi Delta Chi embodied their creed, motto,

and creed – proving their doctrines were more than just principles, rather a way

of life. It was this aura that drove me during pledging, and captured me during

initiation. It is with great fortune I can now pride myself in joining this family.

Initiation to me meant an enhanced responsibility to my brothers - a responsibility I gladly take on as I know my brothers will also be there for me. As outlined by the Phi Delta Chi Motto: Alterum Alterius Auxilio Eget – Each needs the help of the other, brothers are reminded they are never venturing independently as their brothers are there to assist. Such history and dogma taught to pledges during their advance towards initiation are forever imprinted upon us. And though as time passes we may forget the words or details, the entrained character persists. Initiation has induced a greater appreciation the brothers before me, as we know the story continues: Brothers for life.
