How did you decide to pledge?
RISING STAR FEATURE
The first week of school can be a daunting experience no matter what education level you’re at. It’s often that very first week that leaves a lasting impression on you. It shapes your new friends, experiences, and the many adventures you’re bound to have throughout pharmacy school. It was during this first week that Phi Delta Chi had left an impression on me.
It started when I got an email from my student advisor, Mark Jao, who happened to be a brother of PDC. He had gone out of his way to drive me and a couple fellow P1s to get our ventra cards. Afterwards we all went to a nearby bar where I met a bunch of other great people. At the time, I had not known about the different pharmacy fraternities because the introduction to organizations was not until the next day. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that all the people I had met the day before were part of the same fraternity.
Over the next few weeks I attended various PDC and KY events to try and decide if I wanted to pledge. After each event, I bonded with more and more brothers of PDC and slowly slipped away from the idea of joining the other fraternity. Throughout the process, I was amazed to learn how much PDC gave back to the community and exemplified professionalism. I was impressed with all the opportunities PDC had to offer its members. I was eager to learn more about its history. The brothers of PDC made me feel like I belonged and made the transition into pharmacy school so much more exciting. It was easy to make my decision to pledge PDC.
