St, Judes PDC 5k
Despite the fact that temperatures were not the most ideal for a 5K in the midst of April, the St. Jude 5K hosted by our PDC Alpha-Sigma was a huge success. We ended up raising well over $17,000 for St. Jude, and that was more than enough to illustrate why we braved through the Chicago hurricane. All wrapped up in our winter hats, gloves and scarves, all of our brothers happily volunteered to help coordinate the 5K and make sure it ran smoothly. We were all split up into smaller groups and stationed throughout different parts of the 5K path to assist the runners. My group and I were involved in directing the runners to the appropriate paths to continue running on as they finished up the 5K. It was really rewarding seeing the runners brave through the freezing rain and brutal cold as they ran for a good cause. The fact that we all pushed through the extreme weather allowed us to feel the daily struggle patients at St. Jude feel every day- they fight every single day of their lives to overcome cancer.
