A round of Applause for the Round of Alumni
I want to thank Dr. Shelby Duncan, Dr. Sheila Allen, Dr. Adam Bursua, and Dr. Matthew Novak for spending the evening with us grad school guys. We all genuinely enjoyed the talk and had a great time hearing their perspectives on pharmacy, among other things. Personally, I’m still looking for the direction I want to turn when I graduate. Getting to hear the different roads these four doctors have traveled to get to where they are really was eye-opening. But most of all, it was nice being able to see the human sides of everyone. Of course they were professional, but I appreciate their willingness to speak candidly about all they’ve experienced; the good, the bad, and all the ugly. They were great and I really feel a sense of community from the PDC alumni. I look forward to working with them later on down the road and wish them the best of luck in all their future endeavors!

A Recent Graduate Highlight
Each year, our chapter likes to acknowledge a recently graduated brother that demonstrates leadership and dedication to the community. Brother Shelby Duncan (PharmD ’17) is currently finishing up her PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with an emphasis on ambulatory care at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. Shelby will be continuing her career with JBVA after recently accepting a hybrid pharmacist position; a unique opportunity that will allow her to staff both outpatient and inpatient pharmacies. Her future goals are to transition into ambulatory care and stay on as a clinical pharmacist. Shelby continues to stay involved with the alpha sigma chapter and plans to become even more involved in the future. In the midst of residency, Shelby is staying busy planning her wedding and traveling whenever residency lets her get away for a few days!
