THE VERY BEST OF STUDIO GHIBLI SOUNDTRACKS

Studio Ghibli has become a name synonymous with astounding cinematic genius that takes the audience to a fantasy land , which is powered by innate human emotions . Their animated movie saw an innovative storyline , whimsical characters and an enchanting soundtrack , combining these elements to create a masterpiece . The music is often composed by Joe Hisaishi , who has a long-standing collaboration with the director Hayao Miyazaki . Here are some of the out of the world and mystical soundtracks that are a paradise for the ears .
Spirited Away This movie became a legend with the thunderous reviews it gathered , which also propelled Studio Ghibli to achieve worldwide fame . It remains the only non-English movie to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature , which is a feat in itself . The score compliments the eeriness of the spirit world in which the protagonist is transported . The piano score is sentimental but still has ounces of hope imbued in it .
Howl ’ s Moving Castle One of the most recognisable soundtracks from this Japanese studio , ‘ The Merry-Go-Round of
Life ,’ encapsulates the depth of the movie , which is about finding the real person hidden underneath layers of skin . The beautiful score , which has a fairytale-like quality , transcends to become an ode to the days that were spent in conjecture . The other famous track is the ‘ Promise Of The World ’, which is a sweet lullaby to send a person to the land of dreams .
Kiki ’ s Delivery Service The story is about a young witch who moves to a big city with dreams of exploring a new side of life by opening a magical delivery service . Her childish innocence can be reverberated with the notes of the soundtrack as it is almost playful but also has plucks of melancholy about being alone in a new atmosphere . There is no doubt a feel-good factor about the whole premise ; the music score is just a cherry on top .
My Neighbor Totoro A nostalgic ode to the carefree days of childhood where each dream was a possibility , and each smile was from the heart , this movie truly feels like hot chocolate on a cold day . As the two sisters move to a new home while also feeling helpless for their ill mother , the speckles of their joy by becoming friends with magical creatures are truly heartwarming . The orchestra is often uptempo , but some of the score has softer notes with cascading instrumentals .
Princess Mononoke The story is about three distinct characters who are trying to face their own demons and get to the other better side . The world of demons and spirits looms big in the world of Studio Ghibli , with this movie crafting a soundtrack to accommodate the feelings of the characters . As tension escalates in the movie , so does the intensity of the music , which becomes low-pitched with lots of hold . The music tells a story in itself , which also has themes of traditional Japanese music .
From Up on Poppy Hill It is a coming-of-age movie which is rooted in the sentiments of teenagers who are navigating a new world full of challenges , hope and love . A cacophony of piano melody depicts the brewing love between the main characters along with their emotions playing the high note . The city lights , ocean waves , bike rides and , above all , a looming sense of adventure make the score even more noteworthy
