instantly answered that music came to him naturally . He never had to consciously choose music over anything , and there was nothing he had to do out of his way to get in touch with it . As a school student , he was often picked to lead many music and choir groups . After that , he never strayed away from music , but as he got older responsibilities of life started to catch up with him . And so , he turned to a stereotypical “ job ”.
This went on for a few years until being away from music was what made him realize that he couldn ’ t stay away anymore . It was like a love affair . He then began his journey as Tricksingh . His name captures the motive he carries towards his music . It is a blend of street slang and a homage to the culture and heritage he comes from ; Trixing , trick-sing , tricksingh . One thing he was sure about was that he wanted something that was very ‘ him ’ and something that was fresh . He believed that the Punjabi songs prevalent at before he kickstarted into the scene were not a perfect representation of the urban Punjabi thoughts and ideas . They did not capture how they lived their lives . While writing his music , he doesn ’ t write only about heartbreaks , or love in particular . He writes about the stuff that people his age talk about . It ’ s about searching for something , being confused , or creating an anthem for the youth . Tirath isn ’ t fond of glamorising gun violence , or drugs and instead focuses on celebrating creatives because he truly believes that being authentic and human is fulfilling , and that humans are going to become brand themselves in the coming future .
His first single ‘ Welcome to Class ’ showed a glimpse of the music he could bring to the booming independent music industry . He did so boldly by still having a 9-5 job . He later went on to release a number of songs which made him a strong contender for the Indian Music Diaries Awards , and then eventually won it .
Back then , one could only imagine what Tricksingh could bring to the table if he were to produce and create music as his full-time job . This too turned into reality early this year as the win of the best debut artist of the year gave him confidence that he was on the right track and that he will only grow bigger with time . When asked if he feels comfortable being vulnerable , he said “ I have just started being comfortable showing vulnerability on a public platform . I mean , artists are also humans . Think about the whole world knowing about your problems and struggles . It ’ s not easy . A lot of music I have is so beautiful but so vulnerable that it ’ s almost difficult for me to put it out . The ones I have put out have been my best-performing songs , so it ’ s clear that people want to listen to me expressing myself , or that they want to get to know me on a deeper level , I ’ m getting there .” Labda Firaan is the ninth single release by the artist and sixth release of this year alone . The song was conceived out of the idea of searching for something or someone . Tirath has almost always released beautiful and powerful music videos alongside the audio as his ideology holds that his songs are not just songs , they are wholistic projects that include music videos , album art , etc . He treated Labda Firaan ’ s with the same artistic vision in mind and created a music video to tell the story . It shows a girl from an orthodox background who is afraid to pursue what she could have been great at . She is shown to hold herself back from what she was born to do . It is a song created to inspire artists to not be afraid of their dreams and social norms .
Tricksingh has been putting out great music since last year , and the secret behind that is the fact that he is an artist with strong ideals . He believes in always putting his best foot forward . His songs ‘ 5 AM in Punjab ’ and ‘ Shor ’ are great examples of how he doesn ’ t leave any room for improvement , those are the best songs he could have made . It is this work ethic that has made Trick ’ s work to blow up super-fast with 100 % consistency .
This principle also aligns with the social media algorithms to keep him popular among the trends . Although Trick does not fully support music being viewed as a money-making product , or it judged in mere ten seconds , his crisp music does go on to be an example of exceeding in both these endeavours . Apart from making an artist popular , the one thing that he appreciates about social media is how it allows him to build a deeper connection with people . He makes it a point to take a few hours off to reply to anyone who messages him about his art . He loves building a community and acknowledges the fact that the reason he is an artist is because people are streaming his music . With having won the debut artist of the year at the Indian Music Diaries Awards 2023 and having dedicated to music full time , Tricksingh is ready to create a trail of music this year and in the upcoming years . He is even performing at the NH7 Weekender in December and has planned a lot of international collaborations which he is excited to share with everyone soon . He hopes to not only build something that ’ s artistic musically but is also artistic in terms of fashion and culture . He wants to create a brand that has many sections with music being the core of it .
