classical dance music was always revered as the divine, I think that time, having that gurushishya relationship was really important because classical dance music was always revered as the divine, as spiritual, as godly. So there was so much that went into my training.
You would have to bring yourself there at a certain way. You ' d have to come dressed a certain way, with a certain mind state. You ' d have to perform for hours.
You ' d have to understand these complex characters. So I feel learning all of those stories and my mind being enveloped in the Mahabharata and the Ramayana instead of Batman and Robin, I think that really shaped the way that I wanted to tell stories and be a storyteller, not just with music and being linear or one dimension. It had to be all the way to the fashion, the costuming, the stage presentation, everything about it.
So classical dance and being devoted to a guru was really integral in training me for the life as a performer.
