playing it live and that led me to finish it and put it out .
Talk to us about your special collaborative relationship with Warren Mendonsa .
I met Warren in 2017 and had been following Blackstratblues since forever and was a huge fan . It just so happened to be around the time when my mom had just passed and I wanted to write a tune for her . My first conversation with him was as I wrote the idea and ever since that it ’ s been a breeze and an inspiring moment every time Warren puts his ideas to the music or we have a conversation .
Are there any specific messages or emotions you aimed to convey through the track ?
I always leave it up to the listener to feel however they do and react .
Take us through your musical process . How does the song idea germinate ?
There was a time when I had just started writing music that I would
have a cluster of ideas … a lot was going on . But with time , it has become more free-flowing . It just starts with one idea , just that one initial sound and then believe me the bass player instincts of listening to everything kicks in and I can hear the blueprint . The process is very quick and from what I hear and if I am working with collaborators then we dissect and move forward .
What ’ s your daily practise routine like ? Do you try and spend some time in the studio every day ?
I make sure I create something every day … an idea , a bassline or even a melody line and record it somehow . What that has done has helped me to create a workflow . I will point that I am getting back to my musician ’ s institute curriculum which built my endurance and everything , and I ’ m adding those habits of practicing technique and reading etc . I just want to be immersed in music . I also listen to audiobooks and watch masterclasses to gain insights and then spend the rest of the day with my wife and my close friends playing war zone etc . I ’ m also a gamer on the side . And I am
trying to sleep better !
