Nuts for

Guitar

A nut for a guitar is designed to transmit the vibrations of the strings to the body of the guitar and hold the strings on the guitar with the help of chamfers . Accordingly , the quality of vibration transmission depends on the material .
What are the different kinds of nut material ?
High-strength plastic or ABS
Graphite
High-quality and expensive graphite nuts increase sustain , cheap ones can reduce it due to poor workmanship since the material is quite specific and capricious .
Plastic sills
The cheapest and most common . They are installed on the vast majority of guitars - from cheap Chinese replicas to expensive serial models of guitars . The plastic nut is universal , it is as inexpensive as possible . In other words , its sonic properties are satisfactory , as are its durability , strength , and appearance .
Plastic wears out and scratches relatively quickly , and production defects are often found in it ( plastic porosity , the presence of a casting seam ).
It is similar to ordinary plastic , but has a greater margin of safety and is more durable .
Other types of plastic In the guitar industry , there are special polymer blends such as TUSQ , NuBone , and carbon .
These materials differ from plastic in that they imitate the properties of bone sills quite well , and even surpass them in some respects . Soft , pliable processing and at the same time very strong and durable .
The main feature of the graphite nut is improved sliding properties , as a result of which the strings in the grooves of the nut are automatically “ lubricated ”.
The graphite sills also look stylish due to the dark gray color of the material itself .
Brass and other types of metals
The most durable and strong nut for a special sound . Metal nuts make the sound bright and sharp , and can add color when playing on overdrive .
