Hi ! Please tell us more about yourself and the professional journey that brought you to the National University of Singapore .
] I began my career with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as a violinist and made my debut as a conductor with them in 2001 . In 2003 , YST ’ s founding Director Dr Steven Baxter hired me to conduct the Conservatory Orchestra as its founding music director . I subsequently studied in the UK , USA and Australia and my masters and doctoral research areas were in management , strategy and leadership in conducting . Currently , I am Vice Dean at YST overseeing post-graduate programmes , continuing education , career orientation and community engagement – and I am also concurrently NUS Vice Dean of Students overseeing the transformation of the NUS Centre for the Arts to elevate University-wide student arts involvement . I teach conducting and leadership courses at the Conservatory .
It has been a thoroughly rewarding personal journey of lifelong learning and constant professional evolution ; which helped me advance the music industry as a leader – and is the inspiration behind the setting up the YST Master of Music Leadership .
