AudioKraft
Studios,BANGALORE
Bangalore has seen a rapid rise in the number of recording studios in the past decade. In this edition, we
exchanged thoughts with Gagan Baderiya, the founder of one of the most well-known studios in the city,
AudioKraft Studios.
Tell us about your studio, when did you start it and what exactly
took you in this direction?
Audiokraft is a premiere audio recording and music
production studio, we’re based in Bangalore. Our sole purpose
is to meet every audio recording and production requirement
that we might be approached with, from composing and
recording to mixing and mastering. We’ve gathered an
unbeatable combination of state-of-the-art technology,
production facilities, engineers, collaborators and a client
base in a sweet little spot at the heart of HSR Layout. We
started the studio back in 2012, we’re going on 7 years now.
Can you run us through your recording workflow and the set-up?
We have one of the largest studio spaces in the city, covering
about 1,700 square feet with a spacious console and live rooms
that give out the right vibe for the creative juices to flow. Our
studio has a Neutrik patchbay for XLR connections and high-
end Belden Microphone Cables to maintain the quality of the
signal flow into our Presonus studiolive 24.4.2 Digital Mixer.
We have some powerful audio post-production gear that is
set to handle anything that is thrown at us. The interface is a
Universal Audio UAD-2 Satellite Octo-core with a thunderbolt
connection. We have diverse collection of microphones that
includes names like Blue, AKG Dynamic, Lewitt, Sennheiser
and more. To top it all off, a pair of formidable Focal Twin6 be
monitors to serve as the perfect reference speakers to make
crucial decisions.
Our music production setup, includes industry standard
DAWs such as Logic X, Ableton LIve & Cubase 8 with high-end
sample libraries and VST Plugins. Our midi devices include
gear from Novation, Native Instruments and
AKAI Professional.
Could you elaborate on the kind of work you do at your studio and
the clients you deal with?
We have never placed ourselves as a run-of-the-mill recording
studio but rather a creative audio agency whose work
really speaks for itself. We have an unparalleled expertise
in the field, working on 30+ major feature films in multiple
languages, collaborated with some of the best ad agencies
to provide production, branding and various audio services
for names like Toyota, Ola and Flipkart. We’ve had the
opportunity to host some wonderful bands like Swarathma,
Youngr, Agam and wide range of independent artists
and producers.
For beginners and home studio owners, what do you think would
be the best minimal set-up?
It's not the equipment but the creativity of the artist that
really counts. At the end of the day, you do need to start
somewhere, so a simple setup that consists of an efficient
desktop or a l aptop with an OS of your choice, a DAW, an
interface, a midi keyboard and a mic. That’s all you’ll need to
get you going.
What are the plugins that indispensable to your workflow?
Max for Live plugins, various 3rd party Plugins such as
FabFilter, Waves, Izotope, Rob Papen Rp Verb & Delay,
Valhalla, Teletronix LA-2A, UAD-2 Satellite.. The list just
keeps going on.
