In languages, sentences are made of smaller words, music works the same way. You learn the alphabet then put those pieces together to make musical phrases and then put those together to make a song. The more one’s musical skills grow, the more rewarding it is to develop one’s musical theoretical skills as well. Ideally, music theory connects four fields of study, namely: hearing, reading, singing, and writing.
