Rapid Fire Questions :
A music festival you would love to go to that you haven ’ t yet :
Gaurav : Coachella
Nikhil : It used to be Burning Man but I ’ m not so sure about Burning Man now . There are a bunch of independent festivals that have emerged so maybe Wilderness in the UK .
Your favourite festival snack : Gaurav : Burgers
Nikhil : Very few people know this about me but I almost never eat at a festival because I ’ m so stressed and there ’ s so much work going on . So more often than not , it ’ s a candy bar . Like a chocolate candy bar that will put some sugar and energy into me , and I will go through the night . Once the festival is done at 10 in the night , I ’ ll eat something at that point in time but generally in festivals , I very rarely eat anything . So many people have told me how big the burgers at Vh1 Supersonic are . Each year . And I ’ ve never eaten one !
Your most memorable performance so far at Vh1 Supersonic :
Gaurav : I would say Anne-Marie this year .
Nikhil : For me , I would say Eric Prydz . I worked to bring Eric Prydz to India for over ten years . It was the culmination of 10 years of work and he ’ s an artist that has a fear of flying . For a very long time , we thought India would be impossible for Prydz . But we finally managed to make him come and play at Vh1 Supersonic and it left a lot of people in tears . It meant a lot for many artists who travelled from all across India to Vh1 Supersonic that year . So Prydz was very special . Not just musically but also what he meant to our community of music fans in India .
What ’ s your favourite way to unwind after a long day ?
Gaurav : I normally like to go to the gym .
Nikhil : I like to take three days off and not move from the couch . Because here ’ s the funny thing , you know that first year when we did a five-day festival ? After those three days , I was fine . Your brain somewhat tunes into the fact that you ’ ve gotta go this long . When we do a three-day festival , at the end of three days I ’ m finished . But if you do a five-day festival , at the end of three days , I ’ m still fine . Your brain kind of deals with that . But when you get to the end of that you just shut down . So , I ’ m serious when I say that when we get to the end of a festival , I need three days on the couch , I can ’ t move .
What is your most favourite part about the creative process ?
Nikhil : For me , it ’ s seeing it come together . The first thing that made me fall in love with being a festival promoter was standing on the side and seeing that magic happen between the artists and the audience . When that song is being played or that tune is being dropped and you see that connection that happens between the artist and the audience , for me , that ’ s pure love . So , when you build a festival and you see that festival come to life , that ’ s it .
Gaurav : For me , I think , the design journey , what we are going to put up and how that translates into the consumer experience . I just love the design . I like to see that creative design presentation and how that affects the consumer experience and what it translates to .
