Gamie Games - Upcoming Games (2019) (2019)

By: Xavier Arenas

Oh man! 2019 hype year! Games are coming left and right that we have been waiting for as late as 2013. Games we have been watching gameplay for, yearning for. Games that will make someone complete... That is not here. What is here is games coming in 2019… So let’s get right into Gamie Games upcoming 2019 games!

I want to start with one of the games that scared and thrilled me as a ten-year-old boy. Gears 5, of course, a sequel to Gears of War. A brutal game of a post-apocalyptic world filled with aliens called Locust. Your mission, take out Locust using the most futuristic destruction guns. A lancer that has an auto rifle in the front and a chainsaw, yes a chainsaw, in the front. No bayonets on here. Gears of War is a game entirely based on keeping your screen dark so don’t forget to up your TV’s saturation, contrast, and brightness all the way or you won’t see the enemy right in front of you.

Next game is Doom Eternal. A far more brutal game than Gears of War franchise as it is based on blowing up, smashing heads in, and destructive gameplay. After Doom 2016 the game has been a hot hit as it was a modernized first-person shooter based on eliminating demons from another realm. This is very much similar to Gears of War; however the guns are more blazing, the blood is more bloody, and the explosions are more explosive. Though I’d say, Doom seems more fast-paced and repetitive as Gears of War is story based and less gore. Can’t wait…

Third on the list is Wolfenstein: Youngblood. A pretty dark alternate reality game on a huge what if. What if Nazi Germany won WW2? Well, this is what would happen. Youngblood is a continuation of Wolfenstein 2, which is an American Revolution based game.

However, in this story, it is set in a Nazi-occupied Paris and two twins, Jess and Soph, as you search for your lost father. I’d say that two subgenres barely covers what this game has in store for us. If it holds up to the standards it set with Wolfenstein 2 then you can bet this game will be high in the charts on release.

Ever want to be a grapple hook god? In a cold world filled to the brim with enemies to cut down. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a great game set on those ideas. A game just for the people who want to be just as cool as Just Cause 3 montages. The way the gameplay is set up is entirely all on you traveling around Feudal Japan and taking out enemies in arenas and missions. I’d say this is going to be an excellent game for those who are big fans of Japanese immersion. This game is also said to be open world so get ready for a ton of side quests and independence in gameplay choice.

To stay on the idea of Japanese immersion, I bring you Ghost of Tsushima. A strategy, third person, sword-wielding based game. A few words for a lot of gameplay. The game is about a samurai who has been defeated in an attack against his village. The object is to avenge all of those the attack has inflicted pain on. If you have seen the game For Honor, I feel as though it will be like this but more based on story than down to the teeth on sword movement and foot placement. Other than gameplay this game looks like it is not of this time. Graphics off the charts, though this was only E3 gameplay, so all we can do is hope it doesn’t turn out like the Watchdogs incident of looking great then turning out like everything wasn’t rendered in.
