What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “ fashion”? Well, fashion can be interpreted in many ways, it depends on culture, tradition or just taste. How I define fashion is when any brand that I have an interest in is trending, whether its clothes, shoes, accessories, makeup or even hairstyles. Throughout the years, I have seen that society has changed people’s point of view when it comes to fashion. We buy things we don’t usually see in our closet because of peer pressure or because we want to be cool and not left out.

Nowadays, girls wear things that make them look like they’re selling their bodies. Teenagers are now wearing ripped jeans, ripped shirts, booty shorts, crop top, and even mini skirts. They use makeup like foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick, fake lashes and so on. Whenever they want to wear a dress, shorts or a skirt, they feel like they have to shave their legs to look pretty. I think women and girls do this because they feel like they aren’t pretty enough, but the reality is that we are pretty in our way and no matter what, that’s not going to change. This is just evidence that we've all been corrupted by social constructs.

Thinking back to a hundred years ago women were dressed in simple, elegant, covered and no-shows of skin. The clothing worn for women were only dresses and skirts and never pants until it was introduced around the late 1920s or 1930s. Pants grew in popularity because they were easier to work in. Makeup was used, but not a lot and when they used it is was for special occasions, like weddings.

Meanwhile, men's fashion hasn't faced the same impact. Men used a bottom long white shirt, a blazer, slacks, and casual leather shoes, which we still see every day. Teenage boys aside, men's fashion hasn't changed all too much.

Everyone wants to be on top of the game when it comes to fashion, having the newest release shoes, latest brands, the latest technology, no matter the cost. But have you ever struggled with the need of wanting to buy something, but you can’t because you don’t have money to afford it?

Well, I got the best solution for you. I think that if we want something bad enough, we should be able to get it, but at a lower price. Most stores are expensive, no matter where you go, but some stores have affordable clothes you can get by paying a lower price. Stores like Ross, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, H&M, Fashion Nova, JCPenney, rue21, Nordstrom Rack are stores where you can afford things by not paying much. I personally recommend buying online because it is way cheaper, faster and effective. Usually, these stores are pretty much everywhere you go, but sometimes it is tough to find sales or deal of the things you want to buy, which most of us struggle with.

Fashion has affected people positively and negatively. I think the way you dress expresses how you feel internally. For example: Normally on a Monday, you don’t feel like dressing, you can wear sweatpants and hoodies to show that you’re not in a good mood or wear jeans and a shirt, which can mean that you’re happy. Fashion has the most significant impact on people who don’t have a perfect body and person who struggle with low self-esteem. Most of the time when we open a magazine, clothing website, we mostly see models with a perfect body, but have we seen the women in plus size??? We haven’t. Society is corrupted, and everyone is used to seeing ideal size zero women. We need to realize that the body size of any person doesn’t determine our beauty.
