Dear Camera,

I want to thank you for teaching me a lot of lessons throughout my life. I like that I am able to keep these pictures as memories in my life. For me, I am happy that I can express my feelings through taking pictures. Not only did you help me express my feelings, you also brought me to different spots in the city, helped me make new friends, and sparked a lot of creative ideas everywhere I went. My favorite moment with you was when my friends and I went to an abandoned school. You made me think about what I want to do when I grow up and what I want to major in—photography. Ever since I took a picture of my friend, I couldn’t stop taking pictures. Now, you’ve become a part of what I am right now and I thank you for that.

From Henry Xie

To my lovely earphones,

Sometimes you’re flexible, sometimes you’re a mess. Sometimes you’re bipolar, sometimes you leave without telling me. Sometimes you’re missing at a very important moment. Sometimes you’re playing with me with your volume and I am not very satisfied. But at the end, you always make my day. You were there playing music when I cried through my failures, my hopeless moments and my darkest secrets. You were there playing music when I was awkward, embarrassed, despondent, and bored. You were there playing when I’m happy, laughing, and you always blast music to my ears with joy. You were there playing through my best moments and my worst. Unlike classmates, families, and friends, you don’t betray me, you’re honest, and you’re my best secret keeper. You’re the one that opened my inner soul, inspired me, and made me creative. Every beat, every drop, every melody made my day a better one.

Sincerely,

Ben
