Ronda Rousey's

career taking a turn?

Ronda Rousey vs. Amanda Nunes they are both fighters competing for the "Women's bantam title" which was held on December 30,2016. It was one of the most anticipated fights between two mixed martial artists in the UFC. Prior to the fight, a majority of the people predicted that Ronda Rousey would lose by a knockout. After the fight in which Ronda Rousey got knocked out by Holly Holm by a kick to the face, a lot of people on social media posted pictures making fun of Rousey getting knocked out.

Following that, Ronda Rousey shared that she was contemplating suicide. She couldn’t stop thinking about it the day after the Holly Holm fight. On the Ellen show, she said, “It wasn’t easy getting past the loss to Holm, and following the fight she didn’t even really start to feel like herself again until the next morning when the cobwebs lifted from her head after the knockout.” She thought hard about what happened in Holm fight and tried planning her comeback.

In this past December, Ronda Rousey faced Amanda Nunes. Within 48 seconds of the first round, Ronda Rousey got knocked out. There were a lot of mistakes in the first round that costed Rousey the fight. When the fight began, Ronda Rousey was trying to get more takedowns instead of striking. In addition to that, Ronda did not have slip or weave the punches. From the start, Ronda was kicking Amanda to create some space between them; but at the same time, she was aiming for grapples because of her judo. Rousey had been so focused on trying to get a takedown on Amanda and not trying to get knocked out that she forgot to tuck in her chin, to slip, and basic footwork. Overall, the fight ended so fast because Ronda was still overthinking her last fight against Holly Holm.
