Warning: This article although based on a very controversial political subject is strictly based on facts, and is merely a compilation of Donald Trump’s pledges for his first year of presidency. A provocative rhetorical acronym MAGA (Make America Great Again) Propelled Donald Trump to the Republican Nomination and eventually to the Presidency on January 20, 2017, at 9:00 am. To facilitate MAGA trump proposed/promised the following pledges, including but not limited to as noted. The following is a clear and concise analysis of each of Trump's campaign pledges and whether or not Trump adhered to his promises in the first year of Presidency.
1. Renegotiate or withdraw from NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) and TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership). This is still in negotiation, Sixth round of talks set for January 2018.
2.Renegotiate Obama’s Iran Nuclear deal. Trump decertifies the Iran Nuclear Deal and urges Congress to impose harsh new restraints/sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
3.Full repeal and replacement of Obamacare. Trump rollback but not repeal.
4. Imposition of a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States. Supreme Court allows Trump’s third travel ban, but litigation continues.
5. Leave Social Security retirement age and benefits intact. Comes to a grinding halt with a bipartisan standoff in Congress. Trump must intervene and not assume a hands-off policy.
6. Cut taxes (Tax Reform). All income groups get tax cuts early on but not everyone
7. Construct a wall on the entire length of the border between Mexico and the United States. Officials are still testing and evaluating wall prototypes built in California, pending appropriations and construction.
8. Bring manufacturing jobs back to America and increased employment. Concerning bringing back manufacturing jobs to America, there has been very little policy progress, although, at the recent G-8 summit at Davos, Switzerland many leaders at the European Union countries, as well as respective corporations, pledged to invest money in America.
9. Bomb, as well as take oil from ISIS. ISIS has been defeated and routed from Syria by the coalition of Russia, America as far as taking their oil its a hollow promise not kept
10. Impose tariffs on goods manufactured in China and Mexico. Trump’s administration has taken an aggressive stance on the imposition of trade tariffs in the trade practice in certain industries are shown to hurt national security, as of yet, tariffs are not implemented.
