Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League

It's Your League, Let's Make It Better Together!

Welcome to the inaugural issue of The Scoop. On behalf of the MBYLL all-volunteer Board of Directors, we are excited about the opportunity to better communicate ideas on how, together, we can make your league even better for all our member town programs, teams, coaches, players, and parents.

As a league, MBYLL's focus continues to be on our mission to teach, grow, and honor the game across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We do this by providing leadership, structure, training, and guidance for our member town programs around a few key areas: program leadership, coaching education, player development, and game scheduling. Our simple objective in all these areas is to ensure we are providing the tools, support, and resources needed so everyone can have a fun, rewarding experience on-and-off the lacrosse field.

Leadership across the league and at the town level truly matters. Please thank the leaders and coaches in your town for all they do. Today, MBYLL has over 120 programs representing over 160 towns, each with their own dedicated board members, presidents, program directors, team managers, and certified coaches responsible for making their respective lacrosse communities the best they can be. MBYLL is here to help. We start this effort by getting together on a regular basis through our regional meetings. To facilitate better face-to-face communication across the league, MBYLL is set up into six geographical regions across the state. Program leaders come together in each region to plan and prepare for the upcoming spring season.

As we look to have another successful season of lacrosse, I would like to emphasize the importance of supporting your program leaders and our 2,500 certified coaches who continue to be the real gatekeepers of player and character development. We strive to develop all athletes to be the definition of a team player: someone who always competes with class. We believe coaching is the critical factor in making this a reality in every player. Please support them throughout the season in every way you can. When you do, you will help achieve our common goal for your son, his team, his town, and his league: A Fun Experience for All! And remember, it's your league, so let's continue to make it better together.
