Math

People used to believe that mathematicians are these number-crunching machines needed for accounting. Thanks to the demand in data analysis, math majors can get positions in various jobs and areas. It’s also an excellent major to have if you’re majoring in engineering, economics, or science. Career paths with a degree in Math include:

teaching, statistician, data analyst, marketing research, and information science.

Accounting

Other than being good with numbers, accounting majors are qualified for many positions in the work field, such as budgeting or improving efficiency and productivity. In addition, you can become very skillful in handling money for yourself and for others. Jobs as an accounting major include:

tax preparation, bookkeeping, auditing, insurance, and wealth management.

Engineering

In its core, engineering is the love for designing and building things, which leads to a large variety of options to choose from regarding jobs. Government agencies, private corporations, manufacturers, and the military hire those with engineering degrees. Given that engineering can take any form like mechanical, environmental, or biomedical, jobs for engineering majors are almost endless. Some jobs include:

architecture, urban planning, construction management, operations management, and technical consulting.

English/Communication

Many people believed that English majors would simply become English teachers, and similarly, Communication majors wouldn’t find jobs. This is not the case anymore. Many companies seek “soft skills,” including critical thinking, writing, public speaking, and research skills, all of which are obtainable through the various courses from majoring in English. Also, these courses provide a “well-rounded” education, which helps students in future academic goals. Some jobs as English majors include:

journalism, event planning, advertising, technical writer, publishing, content developer, and public relations.
