The Scoop SUMMER 2017 | Page 73

For the month of July, YouthLINE is back with another movie suggestion: Spider-Man. Spider-Man is a fictional superhero who appears in the American comic books written by Marvel Comics. This July 2017, director Jon Watts brings to the theaters yet another fantastic action movie. There are so many versions of The Spider-Man movie, but finally, there’s one that focuses on a teen’s daily life一this time Peter Parker is 15 years old. After his appearance and first mission with the Avengers in "Captain America: Civil War," young Peter Parker tries to balance his new life as an ordinary high school student while he fights Crime in New York. Tony Starks, better known as Iron Man, and his mentor, believes that New York could use a little help from Spider-Man. Iron Man also thought that Peter should start training and getting ready for the next “big” mission. Peter Parker attends to school in Queens一Midtown Tech一 where he is portrayed as a nerd but still has few friends.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures team up to reboot Spider-man once more. For the past 15 years, this will be the third version of Spider-man一"The Spider-Man," "The Amazing Spider-Man," and finally this one, "Spider-man Homecoming." Starring with Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and Zendaya as Michelle. Yes, Michelle, no more Mary Janes. Besides changing the entire setting and actors, director Jon Watts added Michelle as the young version of Mary Jane. Also the fact that Pete doesn’t have superpowers. He is just an ordinary guy who has a high-tech suit that Stark gave him.

The movie starts off with a little montage Peter himself made. He showed his trip experience with his body guard, Happy. The teenager recorded small clips of the fight that happened in "Captain America: Civil War" and the aftermath. When everything ended, Peter heads home to New York with Tony Stark; where he asks the man about his next mission. The mini montage ends with Peter receiving a “We’ll call you.”

So far, Spider-Man: Homecoming has received many positive reviews as well as high ratings. They received an 8/10 for IMDb, 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 73% on Metacritic. We recommend this Fantasy/Science fiction film for family movie night, and it is rated PG-13 for violence and gore scenes. Also, in the film, Peter is often called “Penis Parker.” And like for most action movies, they show alcohol, drugs, and smoking. Regardless of the content rating, it is a fun film to watch with family and friends.
