SCHOOLING
Schools are increasingly taking advantage of digital resources to complement traditional instruction. That includes digital lessons in math, sciences, and other specialized fields. By taking advantage of these resources, it is much easier to track specific weaknesses in student performance as well as keeping all course material up to date to new standards while minimizing the transition to teaching within new standards. Teachers also can focus on providing instruction over creating the course material, while also providing personalized modifications based on the performance of either the individual or an entire class.
Schools already take advantage of the overwhelming amount of information freely available online to supplement instruction over purchasing premade lesson plans and materials. These resources are known as open educational resources that are all materials found in the public domain and are accessible to anyone over the internet. Online resources are becoming an integral part of teaching. There is now a plentiful amount of polished and well-presented videos which help students visualize complex concepts. The vast quantities of information teachers have at their disposal to enhance their lessons is immeasurable, but that also means their needs to be a thorough vetting policy. The open nature of the internet also makes it a breeding ground for misinformation, so it is imperative that the use of open resources is used with caution.
Technology can and has, in many cases, revolutionized education. Some believe putting students in a tech-free bubble all day will promote better learning, but school is more than a place to have information into your head. It's a place to prepare you for life ahead, and life today is defined by technology. Technology has provided schools a way to interact with students in a dynamic way which promotes a more proactive and expressive approach to learning. As long as teachers use technology responsibly and use it supplement their guidance, the possibility for more successful and confident students is a real outcome in the future.
